Graduation Project Commission
Purpose:
This committee aims to ensure that students' final project processes within the Software Engineering undergraduate program are conducted in accordance with academic standards, coordinate advisor assignments, and provide guidance throughout the process to help students develop their software development, project management, scientific research, and reporting skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
Process Planning and Schedule Determination:
- Prepare and announce to students the annual academic calendar, including graduation project application, execution, submission, and presentation dates.
- Update and share the graduation project writing guide, format rules, evaluation criteria, and process guidelines.
Advisor Assignment Process:
- Distribute advisor assignments fairly and evenly based on students' areas of interest and faculty expertise.
- Review requests for advisor changes and make the necessary arrangements if appropriate.
Topic and Content Approval:
- Evaluate the project topics submitted by students in terms of academic suitability, compliance with ethical rules, and relevance to the department program outcomes.
- Provide topic revision, scope narrowing/broadening, or guidance when necessary.
Process Monitoring and Support:
- Ensure the project progresses as planned by regularly monitoring student-advisor work plans.
- Provide process support to students by organizing informational meetings, technical training sessions, and seminars related to the completion process.
Evaluation and Jury Process:
- Coordinate the formation of jury committees for students submitting their final projects.
- Conduct a fair, transparent, and measurable evaluation process, taking into account the project report, software outputs, presentation performance, and advisor's opinion.
Academic Ethics and Similarity Reports:
- Check the academic ethics compliance of submitted project reports by scanning them for similarity (plagiarism).
- Where necessary, provide feedback to the student and advisor and request revisions.
Archiving and Reporting:
- Regularly archive the outputs of completed graduation projects, such as reports, code, and presentations, in a digital environment.
