Purpose:
The Bologna Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the department’s educational activities are conducted in accordance with the international standards of the Bologna Process, the outcomes-based education approach, and the principles of transparency. In this scope, the coordinator oversees the preparation, updating, consistency, and accessibility of course syllabi, program learning outcomes, and ECTS workload distributions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Updating Course Information Packages (CIP):
Updating all course information forms (syllabi), prepared in accordance with the Bologna format, at the beginning of each semester; revising incomplete or non-compliant content together with the instructors.
Ensuring Compliance of ECTS Calculations:
Checking the accuracy and consistency of ECTS credits calculated based on course workload (in-class activities, assignments, exams, individual study, projects, etc.).
Mapping Program Competencies and Learning Outcomes:
Ensuring that course learning outcomes are properly aligned with program competencies and that contribution levels (between 1–5) are clearly defined.
Data Entry into the Bologna Information System:
Ensuring that Bologna Information Package pages in the university’s automation system are regularly updated and coordinating with the relevant university unit.
Ensuring Alignment of Assessment and Evaluation Methods:
Ensuring that the assessment and evaluation methods indicated in course syllabi (midterm exams, assignments, final exams, etc.) are appropriate for measuring the designated learning outcomes and contain sufficient variety.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Monitoring the currency of Bologna outputs, preparing periodic reports for faculty/university quality commissions, and presenting improvement recommendations.
Defining and Disseminating Educational Objectives:
Ensuring that the department’s educational objectives, program outcomes, and qualification matrices are clearly presented and accessible to students and stakeholders.
Compliance with the National Qualifications Framework:
Ensuring the alignment of department program competencies with the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ).
Contribution to Quality Processes:
Ensuring that Bologna outputs are consistent with quality assurance mechanisms such as MÜDEK, FEDEK, and YÖKAK.
Informing Academic Staff:
Conducting informational activities for instructors on Bologna outputs, ECTS methodology, and the preparation of learning outcomes.
