Purpose:
The Distance Education Department Support Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of all distance education courses conducted within the department; facilitating effective communication between the teaching staff and the University’s Distance Education Application and Research Center (UZEM); and supporting interaction between students and instructors throughout the distance education process.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monitoring the Distance Education Process:
Ensuring that all distance education courses within the department are carried out on time and in accordance with UZEM’s academic calendar, course definitions, material upload schedules, and examination plans.
Technical Support for Instructors:
Providing guidance and technical assistance to instructors in preparing lecture videos, uploading course materials, scheduling live sessions, and using exam and assignment systems effectively.
Acting as a Communication Bridge with UZEM:
Maintaining coordination between the department and the UZEM unit; communicating updates, instructions, and announcements to instructors in a timely manner.
Material Review and Compliance:
Encouraging the preparation and use of adequate, up-to-date, and pedagogically appropriate course materials (PDFs, videos, presentations, exercises) within the distance education framework.
Evaluating Student Feedback:
Monitoring student-reported technical or content-related issues, developing solution suggestions, and sharing them with relevant instructors.
Live Session Planning and Tracking:
Ensuring that live sessions are scheduled in accordance with the weekly course timetable and monitoring participation, recordings, and session durations through UZEM reports.
Examination and Assessment Procedures:
Following up on online midterm and final examinations and informing instructors about the secure and fair implementation of assessment procedures.
Data Collection and Reporting:
Collecting data such as participation rates, student performance, and system usage related to distance education courses and presenting these to the department administration.
Crisis and Emergency Management:
Providing rapid solutions and overseeing the process in cases of technical disruptions, system updates, or student access problems within the distance education system.
Continuous Improvement:
Developing improvement suggestions aimed at enhancing the quality of distance education and sharing them with instructors.
